This summer, LHCC hopes to send a group of 18 - 20 deserving children and their parents on a rewarding summer excursion to Atlanta for 4 nights. This will offer a unique chance for kids and their parents to celebrate their scholastic achievement. Each child will qualify by improving their reading and showing use of our iReady reading tools.

Let’s face it. While it can be incredibly rewarding, tutoring can be hard. Particularly when you have one of the “hard” kids. Hard to connect with. Hard to get to speak. Hard to get to bring schoolwork. Hard to keep focused.

Celebrating National Mentor Month at LHCC!

Jesus left his kingdom in heaven and the glory he had there to take on human flesh. This alone would have been enough to make him the most generous person to ever walk on earth. Yet after this act, and after modeling a life of pure generosity, Jesus gave his life to save us.

In this first of two instalments, about gifts and celebrating the Christmas season, we take this opportunity to thank our volunteers, community partners and supporters for their invaluable contributions to our ministry in 2023.

Our public school students are way behind at reading, but take heart. LHCC has introduced i-Ready and we appreciate the efforts of our volunteers.

Thank you to the LHCC Board for providing this gift and to the staff who continued the summer ministry work while I was away.

LHCC will once again be offering fourteen day-camps from June to August, including two five-day weeks of enrichment camp in June and July.

We wish all veterans a Happy Memorial Day and fondly remember all those who have paid the ultimate price to protect our nation and fight for our freedom.

As Martin Luther King so eloquently stated “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter”. Our teens matter, as do all children. Please join me in praying for the wellbeing of all our teens, for a hedge of protection against the forces of evil that permeate all our lives to varying degrees.
