Focus on the reason for the season

In case you missed the first in this two-part series, here is the link

There is no doubt that the holiday season is a special time for many people around the world. Not everyone celebrates Christmas, and some people may simply enjoy the traditions and festivities of the season, while others may see it as a time to simply focus on rest, and renewal.

For us at LHCC, Christmas is a time of year to join together and celebrate the love and joy of Christmas. At this special time, as we come together for a festive dinner with our LHCC families, we focus on the birth and wonder of baby Jesus. His birth is therefore seen as a time of celebration and great joy. We however do not leave him there, in a manger, as a baby. Jesus is the Son of God and was sent to Earth to save humanity and provide a way to spend eternity in heaven. That end time day of rapture seems closer than ever, with ongoing wars and prophesy playing out in the Promised Land.

Listed below are examples of how LHCC apply gift-giving and the message of Christmas learnings.

-       Educate parents on sharing the Christmas message behind the gift.

-       Gifts are not an obligation. The reason for the season is the celebration of the birth of the Savior.

-       We ask that volunteers provide gifts to parent’s, designated for their children, discreetly. We desire that the parent to be the hero. It goes without saying that volunteers are not obligated to provide gifts. Their ongoing contribution of time and talent is more than sufficient in helping to fulfill our mission.

-       At LHCC, we don’t provide handouts, just hand ups to those who need it. We don’t assume people need something. This is the key to fostering trust as we serve families with dignity.

Jesus left his kingdom in heaven and the glory he had there to take on human flesh. This alone would have been enough to make him the most generous person to ever walk on earth. Yet after this act, and after modeling a life of pure generosity, Jesus gave his life to save us. And one day, he will return as the final gift. How should we respond to someone who has given so much for us?

We wish you a joyous Advent season and Christ-centered celebrations. Thank you again for your support of our ministry and the families we serve.
