Meet the Team

  • Brent Morris

    Executive Director

    Brent has been serving marginalized children and families in Charlotte since 2004. Brent resigned from his corporate management consulting position in March 2013 after 16 years in corporate America to follow his calling to serve, predominantly, at-risk immigrant and refugee children in the inner city of Charlotte. Attracted to the LHCC ministry due to its mission to serve disadvantaged children, Brent is an advocate for unity, collaboration and reconciliation among all people. In 2020, Brent sought board approval to undertake a game-changing initiative to promote kinship and community service among church congregants that has been a huge success. He has taken on the challenging task of leading a grass-roots non-profit in the hopes of building awareness, and an operating model, that continues to sustain the mission of LHCC. Brent is an active social entrepreneur who builds collaborative partnerships with schools, churches, non-profits, and corporations.

  • Elaine Hall

    Program Director

    Elaine joined LHCC in March 2024. She began her career working with migrants in El Paso, TX and Juarez, Mexico. In fourteen years of ministry as a United Methodist pastor, Elaine thrived working with teams to design and build solutions that help neighbors thrive together. She is glad to bring her care for people, skill at problem solving, and vision for possibilities to partner with LHCC. She is committed to collaboration and creating supportive networks that benefit kids, families, volunteers, and our community as a whole.

  • Meghan Miller

    Operations Team Lead

    Meghan has been with LHCC since March of 2021. She is a former CMS Spanish Teacher and has over 13 years of experience working with kids. She has always had a passion for helping underserved communities and this is what drew her to LHCC’s mission. Meghan is bilingual in Spanish and English and enjoys learning more about how to best serve the Hispanic community in Charlotte.

  • Ana Robles

    Parent Outreach Team Lead

    Ana joined LHCC in December 2023. She is a local, state, and national award-winning advocate for the Latino population effectively building a more equitable playing field through educational programming, community engagement, and supportive resources. Being an immigrant herself, she understands the community and finds fulfillment in building trusting relationships, uplifting others, and expanding her bounds of knowledge, especially within the areas of mental health, neuropsychology, and overall wellness.

  • Alejandra Sanchez

    Family Learning Coordinator

    Alejandra joined LHCC in March 2024. With over a decade of expertise in Psychology and Neuro-Education, coupled with a master's degree in psychology, Alejandra has traversed various roles across different countries. From serving as a Neuro-Education staff member to teaching in preschool, her experience encompasses a diverse range of pedagogical endeavors. Specializing in early childhood development and holding certification in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Alejandra is deeply committed to empowering children with disabilities. Her passion lies in crafting purposeful, inclusive learning environments aimed at fostering the learning and independence of children with autism. Through a blend of education and psychology, she tirelessly works towards meaningful growth and development, embodying her vocation to support and nurture the potential of every child she encounters.

  • Dick Osman

    Chairman of the Board

    Dick is a retired business executive who has volunteered with in LHCC’s after school and summer camp programs since 2016.

  • Tim Rooney

    Vice Chair of the Board

    Tim works in Major League Baseball and is a published author who has served on the LHCC board since 2021.

  • TaShawn Matthews

    Treasurer

    TaShawn is actively engaged in Latino education and cultural diversity and has gone on mission trips to Central America. She is directly involved in the PTA and the Athletic Booster Board of her students' local CMS area school. She joined the board in 2017.

  • Fady Sidhom

    Board Member

    Fady has served on our board since 2017 and is a former Vice-Chair. He is a career professional in Banking Strategy and Consulting.

  • Bettie Green

    Board Member

    Bettie has volunteered with LHCC for 10+ years. Bringing a career as a small business owner and as an educator, she has a heart to help those in need, especially children. This is Bettie’s second term on our board.

  • Magbis Love

    Board Member

    For the past 15 years, she has been implementing community health programs, to prevent cancer recurrence and relapse. She is the Community Liaison at Atrium Health/Levine Cancer Institute, a community partner of LHCC She has served on the board since 2022.

  • David Ortigoza

    Board Member

    Pastor David Ortigoza is the Associate Pastor, Cross-Cultural Ministry at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, the primary facility partner of LHCC and community . He is the dynamic pastor of the multicultural. He has participated regularly in our after-school literacy and enrichment programs and is a big advocate for our immigrant neighbors. He has served on the board since 2020.

  • Traci Rodgers

    Board Member

    Traci is a Design Consultant for Bank of America and has volunteered and served alongside LHCC since 2020.

  • Pooja Oberoi

    Board Member

    Pooja joined the LHCC Board in February, 2024. She is a Sr. Loan Officer with US Bank who has helped numerous families to fulfill their dream of owning a home in the USA. She is a graduate in Human Resources from Canada and from her college days she used to help college students in resume writing and planning for the future. She has honed multiple skills during her career and can speak multiple languages.

  • Sally Saez

    Board Member

    Sally joined in February, 2024. She serves as volunteer for LHCC each week with tutoring. She assists in leading weekly devotions with the elementary students. As a nurse for almost 4 decades, Sally has been caring for the most vulnerable and underserved in our community. She says, “This role is not only a vocation, but a passion.“

  • Ivonne Uquillas

    Parent Liaison

    Ivonne is very excited to serve on our board as a parent liaison. She and her middle school-aged daughter have been with LHCC for over two years. Ivonne is also a team lead for our Parents Advisory Committee. She says, “The heart always makes a difference when you use it to serve others.”

  • María Alvarado

    Parent Liaison

    María is looking forward to serving on our board as a parent liaison. She and her family have been a key component of the LHCC for many years and also are active congregants of St. Andrew’s UMC. She serves as a Parent Advisory Committee Lead. She says, “I like being a part of LHCC because it is an organization that cares about the wellbeing of the whole family.”
