Promoting awareness without fear
Providing assurance and phone support
Securing pro bono therapy and legal advocacy through partners
Offering benevolence where possible and critical
Developing contingency plans for school attendance concerns
Continuing program nights as usual for stability
Plan in progress to identify and make visible non-public spaces at St. Andrews UMC
Psalm 34:17-18
“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
How Volunteers Can Make a Difference
Our families need reassurance, stability, and practical support during this uncertain time. If you feel led to help, here are meaningful ways you can step in:
1. Reach Out Personally
Call your student or their parent to check in. If you need contact information, let us know we’ll assist.
2. Offer Transportation Support
Ask if students need a ride and offer help when possible.
3. Assess Practical Needs
If families need tangible assistance—rides to school, doctor visits, grocery runs—inform LHCC staff so we can coordinate a plan.
4. Become a Critical Needs Shopper
If you do not have a regular student that you tutor, help us gather and distribute critical supplies for our families! Sign up here for a shopping or delivery shift
5. Donate to our Critical Needs Fund!
Donate on our website or through gift cards to support our families who are losing work and/or unable to leave the house. $150 pays for a week’s worth of groceries for one family!
How to Give?
Gift cards: Walmart, gas, or Compare
Deliver to St. Andrews United Methodist Church office (1901 Archdale Dr) Monday-Thursday 9AM - 3PM or coordinate dropoff with Elaine or Olivia
Cash donations: Click here and select “Help a family with fresh vegetables and cooked meals” from the dropdown menu
6. Provide Remote Emergency Planning
Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy is seeking attorney, notary, and interpreter volunteers to assist clients. To help, send an email to courtney.viebrock@charlottelegaladvocacy.org
7. Commit to Prayer
Lift our fearful students and anxious parents in prayer for peace and protection.
8. Encourage Calm and Care
Remind families that they are valued and supported. A simple word of reassurance can make a big difference.
Please reach out to info@lhcclt.org if you need any assistance or have questions
Psalm 91:1-2
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’”
