LHCC Core Programs

Scholastic Support

Our Kindergarten through Middle School students are paired weekly with dedicated volunteers for after-school homework assistance, tutoring, and reading to ensure student success, confidence and improve English and math proficiency. Our volunteers are committed to building relationships with the kids and encouraging them spiritually and academically.

Parent Education

In conjunction with our weekly after-school program for students, their parents gather to participate in educational programs on a wide range of topics such as financial literacy, mental health, entrepreneurship, technology support, etc.

Health and Wellness

Parents and kids engage weekly in activities that promote their health and wellness. In collaboration with our community partners such as Atrium Health, Girl Scouts, and Sports Outreach, we offer exercise classes, youth sports, health screenings, mental health education, and training in healthy habits and living.

Summer and Day Camps

During the summer, we offer camps to maintain and increase academic development, with over 60 students attending in 2023. Students participate in reading and literacy support, spiritual enrichment, sports, fine arts, STEM, swimming, outdoor exploration and many field trips! Throughout the school year we offer day camps on teacher workdays.

Family Stabilization

Parents receive assistance as needed with workforce development, connecting with local public schools, benevolence and social support and translation services. We offer targeted services like conversational ESL classes, mental health services, financial literacy, and provide financial assistance to deserving students for higher education.

Community Development

Throughout the year we sponsor many opportunities to enjoy fun activities that strengthen our families in building community with one another. In 2023, we took overnight camping trips, participated in 5K races, had Easter and Christmas potlucks, and fall excursions, just to name a few.
