July 2020 Volunteer Update

Dear Volunteers,

It feels like it has been a while since we last connected. I have truly missed seeing all of you and the kids together in one place.

For fear of over-communicating I wanted to provide a quick update on what’s going on and also a request.

Let’s get going …

  1. We are doing summer camp. July 27 to 31 at St Andrews 9am to 4pm
  2. We are doing a family retreat August 13 to 16 in the mountains of NC
  3. We continue to deliver kids and family meals

With the NC governors announcement about school openings this week, we would love to get your opinions on what the school year might look like for volunteers. We will invite everyone to a 30 minute call in early August. Email or verbal feedback is also welcome.

Lastly, I came across this impactful message from Bishop Claude Alexander from right here in Charlotte, produced through Living on the Edge. Here is the link . Key takeaway for me is that racism is not our fault, but it is our problem and we need proximity to help those who don’t come from the same backgrounds as ourselves. At LHCC, we are indeed blessed to have the opportunity to connect with the precious that families we do. If you are so inclined, I highly recommend this summation of the history of racism in the US, and what Jesus said about Samaria.

Have a blessed day and don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
